Grotally

Terms of Service

Last updated: July 17, 2026

This is a convenience translation of the Spanish original. If there is any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.

These terms govern the use of Grotally, an iPhone app that scans supermarket receipts and analyzes them with artificial intelligence to show you your purchases and how prices change over time. By using the app, you accept these terms.

1. The service

Grotally lets you photograph supermarket receipts, automatically extract their products and prices using AI, and view statistics, shopping lists, and a budget. Your data is stored locally on your device; the image analysis is performed on our server. The service is provided by Grotally's developer (David Miguel Reina Poyatos, NIF 53598409Z — an individual developer established in Spain). Contact: grotally@gmail.com.

2. License to use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own, for personal purposes. Downloading from the App Store is additionally subject to Apple's terms applicable to apps distributed through its store. You do not acquire any rights over Grotally's software, trademarks, or content beyond this use.

3. Free plan and Grotally Pro subscription

  • Free plan: includes 5 receipt scans per month.
  • Grotally Pro: an auto-renewing subscription that removes that limit and unlocks the Pro features shown in the app.

The subscription is purchased and renewed through the App Store, under Apple's terms: the charge is billed to your Apple account, and renewal is automatic unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Managing and canceling it is done from your App Store account settings; uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may vary by country.

4. AI analysis: accuracy not guaranteed

Receipt recognition is performed using artificial intelligence and may contain errors (misread products, incorrect prices or categories, unrecognized receipts). That's why the app lets you review and edit the results before and after saving them. Price, personal inflation, and comparison information is for guidance only: it is based on your own receipts and automated analysis, and does not constitute financial, tax, or investment advice.

5. Acceptable use

By using Grotally, you agree not to:

  • use the app or its backend fraudulently or abusively, or attempt to circumvent the free plan's limits or the anti-fraud checks;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, probe them, or interfere with their operation;
  • decompile, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the app, except as expressly permitted by law;
  • submit unlawful content, or content that infringes third-party rights, for analysis.

We may suspend access to the analysis service in the event of fraudulent or abusive use.

6. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep the analysis service continuously available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability (maintenance, third-party provider incidents, force majeure). We may improve or modify app features; if a change substantially reduces what your subscription offers, you can cancel it in the App Store.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from your use of the app or from decisions you make based on the guidance information it displays (for example, price or spending estimates). Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited under law, or the rights granted to you under applicable consumer protection regulations.

Remember that your data is stored locally on your device: you are responsible for your own backups (for example, your device's iCloud backup or a backup to your computer).

8. Privacy

The processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or in applicable regulations. We will publish the current version on this page along with its update date and, if the change is significant, we will also let you know from within the app. If you continue using the app after the update, you will be deemed to accept the new terms.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Spanish law. Any dispute will be subject to the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable regulations; if you act as a consumer, the courts of your place of residence. Nothing in these terms affects the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. As an EU consumer, you can also turn to the alternative consumer dispute resolution mechanisms available in your country.
